Based in the Côtes de Castillon appellation, Clos Lunelles represents Gérard Perse’s latest vinous acquisition. The Perse family purchased this 9-hectare estate in 2001, it was previously known as Château Lapeyronie. Gérard Perse also owns the famous Saint-Émilion châteaux Pavie, Pavie-Decesse and Bellevue-Mondotte. Clos Lunelles however, lies in the Côtes de Castillon appellation, perched on the Saint-Colombe hill. The vineyards lie on a clay-limestone plateau and are planted to Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). This unique property posed a new challenge for Perse, nevertheless the resulting wine is opulent and ripe with that classic Right Bank style that can, in this case, be enjoyed on the younger side.
