The acidity in this really gives verve and intensity to the wine. Lemon and salt character already. Full yet vivid. Exciting. Great value. Drink or hold.

Pure, with verbena, Key lime and kiwifruit notes carried by fresh acidity. Stays rounded in feel overall, with a light hint of brioche on the finish.—J.M.

The 2016 Lune d'Argent is a blend of 70% Sémillon and 30% Sauvignon Blanc. It has a simple pear and beeswax-scented bouquet that demanded some coaxing from the glass. The palate is well balanced, but to me does not quite possess the complexity and bite of the 2015 Lune d'Argent. It has satisfying freshness.
Producer
Clos des Lunes
Olivier Bernard is hands down one of the greatest winemakers in Bordeaux, celebrated year after year for his Domaine de Chevalier estate in Pessac-Léognan and his Château Guiraud in Sauternes, Bernard’s first vintage of the newly acquired Clos des Lunes estate was in 2012. While the Clos des Lunes property lies in the Sauternes appellation, the estate produces dry white wines, therefore it is sold as a white Bordeaux and not a sweet Sauternes. The vineyards stretch over 45 hectares and are planted to a majority of Sémillon with about one-third Sauvignon Blanc. The estate produces three high-quality dry whites, Lune d’Argent, Lune d’Or and Lune Blanche. Today, Olivier’s son, Hugo Bernard manages the day to day activities at Clos des Lunes.
