Clos D'Agon
This small bodega can be found on the breathtaking Catalan Costa Brava, in the area of Calonge. Located in the far northeast corner of Spain, Clos d’Agon sits on the granite plateau of Girona, with its vineyards sitting just a few kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea. What began in 1999 as a virtual garage winery, Clos d’Agon was born out of a partnership between six Swiss friends, however, today, the group works entirely from a newly constructed facility. They have even hired the famed winemaker, Peter Sisseck, the genius behind Pingus, as a consultant. The bodega produces several impressive whites and reds, including Clos d’Agon Blanco and Clos d’Agon Tinto, ranking among their best – they are made from the best plots, with specifically selected grapes. The dense, intensely flavored Tinto is a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and some Syrah and a little Petit Verdot. While the Clos d’Agon Blanco is a blend of Roussanna, Viognier, and Marsanne, making the wine a creamy balanced white.
