Rauzan Ségla 2010 150cl

Beautiful clarity of fruit with raspberries and currants on the nose. Roses and other flowers too. It's almost hard to describe, but there's a real purity. Full body, with fabulous balance and depth. It has everything in the right place. Best ever? Try it in 2018.

Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Rauzan-Ségla is youthfully reticent and closed to begin, slowly unfurling to offer notions of underbrush, black truffles, smoked meats and tar over a core of baked black cherries, prunes and crème de cassis plus touches of iron ore and crushed rocks. Full-bodied, concentrated and jam-packed with savory/earthy fruit, it has a rock-solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing with great length and expression. The blend this year is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, harvested between September 23rd and October 19th, at an average yield of 37 hectoliters per hectare. It was aged for 18 months in French oak, 60% new. The alcohol is 14%, and the pH is 3.52.<br/>

Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Das Bouquet wirkt verhalten, zuerst etwas hölzern mit Palisandernoten, Kastanienduft und dunklen Pflaumen. Erst im Gaumen spürt man dessen Grösse, viel Fleisch, gute Adstringenz und somit auch Reserven zeigend. Ein sehr klassischer Rauzan-Ségla der irgendwie an seinen phänomenalen 1986er - in verfeinerter Form - erinnert. Drei Mal verkostet. In 10 Jahren kann durchaus die Note 19/20 im System stehen. Im Herbst noch einmal. Ist für einen 2010er eher zurückhaltend, oder halt besonders fein. (18/20). 12: Mittleres Granat-Purpur. Delikates, frisches Bouquet, Johannisbeeren, Maulbeeren und viel verschiedene Edelhölzer, auch ein Hauch Zedern schwingt da mit. Im Gaumen extrem fein, das Extrakt ist wie Seide und die Balance ist herrlich. Fällt vielleicht nicht grad auf unter den lauten Crus, aber wer Musse hat, der erkennt, dass dies einer allerbesten Rauzan-Séglas der neuen Zeit ist.<br/><br/>warten (2019 - 2046)

Flashy style of Margaux, with alluring warm cocoa and black tea aromatics followed by cashmere-textured plum sauce, steeped fig and blackberry confiture notes. The well-integrated structure makes this seem almost accessible now, but the ample length and a smoldering tobacco note make a case for cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2030. –JM<br/><br/>
