Located in the heart of Margaux, Château Lascombes is one of five Second Classified Growths in the region. Since the 17th century the château has had a wide array of owners. By 2011 the estate fell into the hands of the French medical insurance group, MACSF. Under the new ownership, the estate’s quality curve has been even further accentuated thus following in the path of the first owner, the Knight Antoine de Lascombes. As one of the largest properties, but also one of the most scattered, the vineyards extend across both the Margaux and Haut-Médoc appellations, with just over 118-hectares under vine. Vinification at the estate is led by Lascombes’ Dominique Befve, and consulting vintner, Michel Rolland. Together they produce several impressive clarets influenced by the team’s savoir-faire attitude. One third of their annual production is dedicated to the well-balanced, Chevalier de Lascombes that gains an even greater depth and complexity after years of maturation. In the same spirit of excellence, the property produces an elegant second wine, Lascombes.
