The 2007 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne has a ripe and generous bouquet with orange pith, apricot, crème brûlée and quince, unfurling beautifully in the glass. The palate is supremely well balanced with fine definition, wonderful acidity and a composed, almost Tokaji-like finish that lingers with enticing marmalade and quince notes. So precise. So delicious.

2400 kleine Flaschen. 55 % Sauvignon Blanc, 45 % Semillon. Intensives Gelb.

Delivering 12.0% ABV and 200gms residual sugar, Denis Dubourdieu’s luxury Barsac, the 2007 L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daene, does not hold back, born with a lucid golden hue with big fat tears (of joy). The bouquet is very intense but very tight at first, demanding time to unfurl in the glass at its own pleasure: white peach, apricot, orange-blossom and a touch of marmalade with breathtaking definition. The palate is full-bodied with a viscous entry, so pure and caressing with mellifluous honey, apricot and citrus lemon, wonderful delineation on the finish, the thread of acidity interwoven through that powerful finish with the length of an ocean liner. Brilliant. Drink 2015-2050. <br/>

Refined and balanced, with citrus fruit, pineapple and just a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied, medium sweet, with a finish that's tangy, spicy and long. Pretty and harmonious. Score range: 92-95 –JS

Château Doisy-Daëne
Château Doisy-Daëne, included amongst the Second Growths in the 1855 Classification, is located on the Barsac limestone plateau in the Sauternes appellation. It has belonged to the Dubourdieu family since 1924. Four generations have made fine white wines here from father to son: Georges (1924-1948), Pierre (1949-1999) and Denis Dubourdieu since the 2000 vintage – assisted by his sons, Fabrice and Jean-Jacques. The family is committed to defending and promoting Doisy-Daëne's image around the world. Denis Dubourdieu is also a professor of oenology at Bordeaux University and an internationally renowned consultant. Château Doisy-Daëne's 17.2 hectares of vines (87% Sémillon and 13% Sauvignon Blanc) are over 40 years old. The wines have their own special style, with bright fruit concentrated by "noble rot" as well as lively acidity, excellent balance, and delicate flavors. Doisy-Daëne's much-appreciated personality reflects both its excellent limestone terroir and a long family tradition of quality.
