Château Bolaire
Château Bolaire is a 7.3-hectare estate located in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. But it is no ordinary "Bordeaux Sup". They are reputed to possess the largest percentage of Petit Verdot planted in all of Bordeaux at more than 50% of their plantings. A young château that was created in the early part of the 21st century - in 2003 to be exact - by Vincent Muilliez. Vincent also owned Château Belle-Vue along with Château de Gironville, both located in the Haut-Médoc. Château Bolaire's blend if often over 50% Petit Verdot with over a third of Cabernet Sauvignon and around 10% Merlot. Having such a high percentage of Petit Verdot gives their wine a notable amount of color, particularly since the vines are close to 90-years-old. Once the wine is fermented, it spends 12 months in French oak barrels, around 30% new. All this detail and grape quality work together to produce one of the most impressive Bordeaux Supérieurs that money can buy.
