Saint Pierre (Pomerol) NV 75cl

AOC | Pomerol | Bordeaux | France
Producer
Château Saint Pierre
Son of a cooper and a long linage of Médoc natives, the late Henri Martin bought Château Saint-Pierre in 1981. He was able to piece back together the original 17th century estate, acquiring all the necessary land holdings that had been lost over the years. Martin was successful in restoring the property to its 1855 status, the famous year of the Bordeaux Classification. Today, the estate is run by his inheritor and daughter, Fracnçoise Triaud representing the 4ème Grand Cru Classé as one of the appellation’s best. Situated in the center of the Beychevelle commune, the 50-year-old vines cover over 17-hectares. Planted to three-quarters Cabernet Sauvignon with the remaining dedicated to Merlot and Cabernet Franc varieties, the grapes are manually harvested with careful selection pre-fermentation. The vinification tactic here is always conscientious, the château uses thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, and new-oak barriques to age the wine for a period of 14 to 16 months. As the smallest of the classified growths in Saint-Julien, Saint-Pierre wines are beautifully perfumed, full, and densely styled, with subtle notes of crème de cassis, and incense.
