Château Rauzan Segla
In 1994, Château Rauzan-Ségla was acquired by the Wertheirmer family. The Wertheirmers, who are also responsible for the famous Chanel perfume business, worked to reinforce the Second Growth’s status and rank. With a long history dating back to 1661, the château owes its name to founder, Pierre Desmezures de Rauzan and its reputation to the many successful owners over these past few centuries. Today, the Wertheirmers’ thorough renovations have further ensured the estate’s outstanding quality through sustainable farming techniques and modernizing their vinification facilities. Using temperature-controlled stainless steel for fermentation, their wines are then aged in 60% new oak barrels for 18 months. Rauzan-Ségla is one of the most appreciated châteaux in Margaux, specifically for their signature bouquet of aromas and finesse. With the assistance of John Kolasa, former enologist at the family’s Saint-Émilion estate, Château Canon, the property produces complex 2ème Grand Cru Classé wines. The flagship, Rauzan-Ségla is a glorious blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
