Small but mighty, this outstanding property sits in one of the lesser-known ACs, the Côtes de Francs. Producing delicious wines year after year, Château Marsau is owned by the president of Dourthe Bordeaux négociant, Jean-Marie Chadronnier. Situated to the north-east of the Francs village, Château Marsau lies at the top of a hill, benefiting from an exceptional microclimate and plenty of sunlight. Planted exclusively to Merlot, the 8-hectare vineyard is home to predominantly clay soils. The resulting wines display classic Right Bank characteristics, like elegant, soft red fruits and an undeniable equilibrium. Robert Parker describes this estate as “The Pétrus of the Côtes de Francs”.
