17/20 2021 – 2036

Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois annual tasting, the 2015 Malescasse felt broody and saturnine on the nose, mulch-like aromas percolating through the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, quite austere in style and old-fashioned but it pulls it off well. Don’t approach if you want bags of fruit, but personally I adore the pencil shaving finish and its old school sensibility. Tasted September 2017.

Château Malescasse
Malescasse has played an important part on the Médoc wine scene since it was first created in 1824. Everything at Malescasse emanates a feeling of peace and harmony with its surroundings. Located on one of the most picturesque gravelly rises found between the Margaux and Saint-Julien appellations, Malescasse’s vines benefit not only from well-drained soils, but also a temperate microclimate due to its vicinity to the Gironde. The resulting wines are delicate and natural.
