70 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 24 % Merlot, 4 % Cabernet Franc, 2 % Petit Verdot. 19/20 2025 – 2055

The 2015 Lynch-Bages has a fresh, vibrant bouquet of blackberry, graphite, cedarwood and just a touch of spice. The palate is medium-bodied with fresh acidity and well-balanced, but not quite as complex as the aromatics augur. While I like the precision here, it just does not kick in as I expected. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting.

Château Lynch Bages
Overlooking the Gironde estuary, Château Lynch-Bages is located on the outskirts of Pauillac, on the Plateau de Bages, one of the most beautiful gravelly rises in the appellation. The estate formerly belonged to the Lynch family, originally from Ireland, and was purchased by Jean-Charles Cazes in 1934. Starting in the 80’s, Jean-Michel Cazes undertook an in-depth modernization of Lynch-Bages, while preserving the former 19th century vat room. This a area is a rare example of traditional winemaking equipment that was used in Médoc many years ago. In 2006, Jean-Michel handed over management to his son Jean-Charles, and took on the project of breathing new life into the adjacent Village de Bages. The wines of Lynch-Bages reflect the family tradition of generosity and excellence. Lynch-Bages combines structure, finesse and elegance, offering generous aromas in its youth and developing deeper complexities with bottle age. The second wine, Echo de Lynch-Bages is round, soft and seductive in its youth, with outstanding potential for bottle age. The estate also produces a fine Bordeaux white, Blanc de Lynch-Bages, which is a lively and crisp wine with fresh fruits and white flower aromas that dance with delicate woody and vanilla notes.
