Château Loudenne
With its pink exterior, Château Loudenne is one of the more colorful châteaux in the Médoc. It is located close to the Gironde, due north of Saint-Estèphe in Saint-Yzans-de-Médoc. It is the only castle in the Médoc to benefit from a private port. The vineyards are situated on two gravelly hills with clay and limestone, a plot that is well suited for red varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. While the estate is better known for their reds wines, Loudenne also produces a white as well as a rosé. Since 2000, Michel Rolland has been the consulting oenologist at the estate. In July 2013, the château was purchased by the Chinese tech group, Moutai.
