Originally used as a fort during the 16th century, Château Les Grands Chènes lies in the northern boundaries of the Médoc appellation and is comprised of 12 hectares of vines which are almost equally dispersed amongst Merlot (50%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) accompanied with a small amount of Cabernet Franc (5%). The property is currently owned by the dynamic Bernard Magrez who has invested heavily to produce the best wine he thinks possible. It has regularly been described as an "over-performing" estate by Robert Parker.
