Mitteldunkles Gelb, somit recht intensiv, leuchtender Rand.

The Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2014 is a blend of 94% Sémillon, 6% Sauvignon Blanc and 1% Muscadelle picked from 17 September to 27 October (17 days of picking over four tries.) The yields was just 9.4 hectoliter per hectare and it is aged in 40% new oak and there is 137 grams per liter residual sugar. It has a very pure bouquet that should fine mineralité once in bottle. It is not as intense as its peers, but very harmonious and one can see the influence of Prof. Denis Dubourdieu here, instilling more "verve" than recent vintages. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry. Very precise, very poised but linear at the moment, the best part of this Sauternes is the last ‘third’ that is underpinned by vibrant, spicy fruit and a long effervescent tail on the finish. Excellent, through the new wood on the finish suggests that it will benefit from several years in bottle.

The mango and papaya notes have a creamy mouthfeel, while glazed pear and peach notes add range. Candied lemon peel and piecrust hints gild the rich finish. A pretty style. Best from 2018 through 2038. 1,517 cases made.

Château Lafaurie Peyraguey
One of the most beautiful châteaux in Bordeaux, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey dates back as far as the 13th century when it was used as a fortress. One of the estate’s most recently known owners was Sieur Raymond Peyraguey, after which the château was partially named and who purchased the property in 1618. The estate eventually added the name of its other owner, Monsieur Lafaurie, who bought it in 1796, over one century later. Its most recent owner is Silvio Denz, a Swiss entrepreneur, who also owns Péby Faugères and many other Bordeaux châteaux. The property is made up of 41 hectares of vines which are planted to 90% Sémillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle. On average the vines have an age of 40 years old. Normally a favorite among Sauternes-lovers, Lafaurie-Peyraguey is known for its balance, offering notable layers of fruit but within frame that is weighed equally between richness and freshness.
