As I mentioned in my primeur note, the 2019 La Tour Blanche is less ostentatious on the nose compared to recent vintages, dried honey and peach skin scents emerging with time in the glass. The palate is well balanced with a peachy opening, fresh acidity and more overt tropical notes toward the long finish. Very fine, seductive and, for want of a better word, fun.

Château La Tour Blanche
Known as the second greatest estate in Sauternes, after the legendary d’Yquem, Château La Tour Blanche has had a long vinous history. Owing its name to the original founder, Jean Saint Marc du Latourblanche, the estate was classified as a Premier Grand Crus in 1855. By the 1900s, the property created La Tour Blanche School of Viticulture and Enology, with the help of Daniel Osiris Iffla. Today, the estate is home to around 35 hectares of vines planted to a majority of Sémillon and smaller amounts of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle. Château La Tour Blanche produces an excellent Sauternes which is eponymously named, but also five others wines - Les Charmilles de Tour Blanche, its second wine; then three dry whites, Isis, Osiris and Jardins de Thinoy; as well as a Bordeaux red, the Cru de Cinquet which is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Malbec.
