This is firm and structured with blueberry and hazelnut character. Full body, with fine tannins and a juicy finish. So long and pretty. Wonderful texture. Better after 2017.
93 Wine Spectator
This is ripe, with a lovely beam of cassis and blackberry well-harnessed by seamless acidity. The rounded, enticing finish has a dash of toasty vanilla that's well-embedded. Score range: 90-93 –JM

.

Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Barockes Bouquet, schwarze Pflaumenhaut, Tabak, Trüffelnoten, Lakritze, sanft trocken im Ansatz. Fleischiger Gaumen, zeigt verlangende Adstringenz, versprechendes Potential. Also hat er gute Chancen noch zuzulegen. warten (2018 - 2036)

90 Robert Parker
This is always the most St.-Julien-like of the Pauillacs (although occasionally Pichon-Lalande possesses a suave, St.-Julian character and less power than many Pauillacs). The dark ruby/purple-hued 2010 reveals sweet aromas of red and black currants, cedar and spicy background oak. It is an attractive, elegant, mid-weight wine with polished tannins as well as a restrained style. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.

Château Haut Batailley

A relatively new arrival on the Bordeaux scene, Château Haut-Batailley was historically part of Château Batailley, one of the oldest and largest estates in Pauillac. The Borie family, owners of the Batailley estate since 1931, had in fact been managing the property long before that date, starting from the late 1860s. In 1942, the family decided to divide the estate to avoid future inheritance issues: Marcel, the son, received the larger share, including the building and the name Château Batailley, while the remaining part of the estate went to his brother François, under the name Château Haut-Batailley.
In 2017, the estate was acquired by the Cazes family, already owners of Château Lynch-Bages, who undertook significant renovation and expansion work. Today, Château Haut-Batailley covers 41 hectares and remains classified as a Cinquième Grand Cru Classé. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot, and produces elegant and refined wines that reflect the typical character of the Pauillac terroir.
