This Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is owned by the friendly, Jean-Pierre Rollet of Château Fourney and Château Grand Tertre in Castillon. He comes from a long line of grape growers, with a history in the appellation that can date as far back as 300 years. His 12 hectares of vines lie on predominately clay soils and are harvested by machine. The grapes are fermented in enamel and cement tanks before being aged in oak barrels, approximately 30% new. Being in Saint-Émilion, the land consists of clay, therefore a majority of the wines produced are Merlot. In addition to the Vieux Guinot bottling, he also produces a prestige cuvée named Osage, which is composed of 100% Merlot and aged in 100% new oak barrels.
