This has an exotic bent at first, as it offers up a lovely gush of crushed plum, boysenberry and blackberry fruit flavors, laced seamlessly with sweet black licorice. Then this gains in depth and grip as it moves through the finish, showing accents of apple wood, leather and Turkish coffee and ending dark and winey in feel. Built for the cellar. Best from 2023 through 2040.

The maturity of the roussanne is immediately apparent with such richness, ripeness and attractive fleshy drive on the palate and a phenolic structure that sustains the length handsomely. Concentrated and super fleshy. A blend of 60% roussanne, with grenache blanc and other varieties. Drink over the next eight years.

Château de Beaucastel
Château de Beaucastel is a magical place. It is surrounded by hills planted with endless vineyards, hundred-year-old olive trees and truffle oaks. Here nature is blooming, liberated and at ease. Ancient vines with knotted roots are nurtured in the traditional gobelet style in the soil typical of the region, laden with large round pebbles. When the Mistral blows - the legendary wind from the Alps - it whistles down the Rhône Valley cooling the vines and revealing aromas of Garrigue. Today, the estate remains in the hands of Jacques Perrin’s sons, Jean-Pierre and François. A blend of the the Famille Perrin’s talents, the estate follows strict founding values, consisting of respect for the land and terroir through biodynamic agriculture techniques that accentuate their quest for truth, balance and elegance. Planted on ancestral soils, Château de Beaucastel cultivates 13 grape varieties well-known in Châteauneuf du Pape. Each vintage is a unique and exceptional combination of power, structure, sophistication and freshness.
