96 James Suckling
With aromas of red currants, ripe cherries, flowers and hints of nutmeg and salt, this medium-bodied red has a solid core of fruit with medium and ripe tannins that nicely frame the wine and give depth and energy. Lightly chewy and caressing at the end. 65% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot, 2% cabernet franc, 2% malbec and 1% petit verdot. Better to drink in two or three years, but best after 2027.
92 Robert Parker
The 2021 D'Issan is performing well, exhibiting aromas of rich berries, licorice, violets, sweet soil tones and pipe tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, layered and lively, with powdery tannins and a saline finish, it will flesh out with élevage to deliver a supple, perfumed D'Issan that will offer a broad drinking window. It's a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.

Producer
Château D'Issan
Château d'Issan continues to impress every year, with increasingly better wines vintage after vintage. Classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Classification, d’Issan remains one of the leading producers in Margaux. As a historic estate, the property has gone through several owners up until 1945, when a well-known Médoc family bought the château – the Cruses. Currently, Emmanuel Cruse manages the property with the help of the Lorenzetti family of Château Pédesclaux. The vineyards stretch over 44 hectares, with a majority of the vines planted to Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest to Merlot. Their wines are reaching new heights, with rigorous selection of the best fruits and up to 18 months of aging in 50% new oak.
