Very attractive dark-plum and berry aromas with hints of flowers. Some fresh-mushroom and coffee-bean undertones. Full-bodied with round, layered tannins and a flavorful finish. Succulent and juicy. So attractive, but there are plenty of pretty tannins underneath. From organically grown grapes. 85% merlot and 15% cabernet franc. Drink after 2023.

Château Clos de Sarpe
Clos de Sarpe is located in the Sarpe area, the north-eastern part of Saint-Émilion. It has been owned by the Beyney family for three generations and is currently managed by Christine and Jean-Guy Beyney. Their small 3.68 hectare vineyard is planted on deep limestone soils with a thin clay topsoil. Some of their oldest vines average over 70 years in age and are comprised of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. They produce two wines: Clos de Sarpe, their flagship and Charles de Sarpe, the estate's second wine. In recent years, with the help of consultant, Michel Rolland, the château has been able to increase in quality. This has been done by increasing their selection, lowering their yields and ageing their wines in new French oak barrels.
