Gastronomischer Charmail. 17/20 2020 – 2035

Aged for 12 months in 25% new, 25% one-year-old and 50% two-year-old French oak barrels and a blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 11% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Charmail is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with an enticing nose of crushed black currants and black raspberries notes with touches of spice box and dried leaves. Medium-bodied, it offers a good amount of juicy black and red fruits with grippy tannins and appealing freshness.

Château Charmail
Found in the Haut-Médoc appellation, Château Charmail lies just along the Gironde River. The vineyard is made up of one single plot, which extends right to the water's edge. The name Charmail comes from its 16th century origins, when the Trevey de Charmail family settled in the Médoc. From the 18th century Charmail was already a big player on the Bordeaux map and since then vines have always been cultivated here. Olivier Sèze took over operations in 1982. In a few years, with his vision and thoroughness, he managed to impose a distinct style of winemaking here and made Charmail one of the most valued wines bearing the Haut-Médoc label. Vintage after vintage for nearly 30 years, he has made nicely well-balanced wines. In 2008, Bernard d’Halluin, a Lille native, purchased the château.
