This has good intensity with dark berry and plum aromas, as well as alluringly spicy oak influence. There’s a dense and juicy core of very attractive, concentrated red plums and berries, framed in well-judged tannins. Try from 2022.
Producer
Château Côte de Baleau
A lesser known wine that is produced with the help of consulting oenologist, Michel Rolland, Côte de Baleau is produced from a 17-hectare estate which is owned by the Reiffers family. It is managed by Sophie Fourcade, who is also in charge of Clos St. Martin and Château Les Grandes Murailles. Out of the 17 hectares, 14 of them were upgraded to Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Émilion reclassification of 2012. It is an earlier drinking, elegant and charm filled wine, which remains one of the better values within Bordeaux.
