This elegant, sweet, dark ruby/purple-colored St.-Emilion exhibits a striking minerality along with medium-bodied, attractively plump, plum, cherry, and currant fruit, admirable sweetness, and moderate, dry tannin in the finish. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it over the following decade.
Producer
Château Côte de Baleau
A lesser known wine that is produced with the help of consulting oenologist, Michel Rolland, Côte de Baleau is produced from a 17-hectare estate which is owned by the Reiffers family. It is managed by Sophie Fourcade, who is also in charge of Clos St. Martin and Château Les Grandes Murailles. Out of the 17 hectares, 14 of them were upgraded to Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Émilion reclassification of 2012. It is an earlier drinking, elegant and charm filled wine, which remains one of the better values within Bordeaux.
