Château Broustet

Château Broustet is a 2ème Cru Classé Sauternes located in Barsac. Created some time in the 19th century, it had a series of owners until it fell on its last three who had clear definitions of style. From the late 19th century, it was owned by the Fournier family (the then owner of Château Canon) until the early 1990s. Eric Fournier often chaptalized creating wines with higher alcohol and richness. Its following owner was Didier Laulan, the owner of neighboring St. Marc. He liked a more delicate, balanced style and he and his family were really turning around the property when they were forced to sell it in 2010 due to financial difficulties despite a notable step up in style. Today, it is owned by the Merlaut family who also owns Gruaud Larose, Camensac and many other properties.
