Château Bouscaut
Both the red and white wines of Château Bouscaut are classed growths. Vines were first planted here in the 17th century. Located close to the city of Bordeaux, the vineyard is in a single block on a beautiful gravelly rise facing due south. The attractive 18th century château is made of honey-colored stone. It is surrounded by rose bushes and shaded by century-old oak trees. Lucien Lurton, a passionate winegrower and owner of several great growths in the Médoc, purchased Bouscaut in 1979 from North American owners. In 1992, he handed over management to his daughter, Sophie Lurton, who has been assisted by her husband, Laurent Cogombles, since 1997. They are committed to producing wine that is fully in keeping with Bouscaut's rank thanks to the greatest of care and attention in both the vineyard and cellars. For this reason, the cellars and vat rooms were entirely renovated in September 2010, and a new barrel cellar built. Decorated with barrel staves, this epitomizes their philosophy of natural winemaking and respect for the environment.
