Antinori - Tenuta La Braccesca
Owned by Tuscany’s legendary Antinori family, Tenuta La Braccesca can be found on the edge of the Umbrian border extending into parts of the lesser known region of Montepulciano. Out of Antinori’s many leading estates in Italy, La Braccesca is definitely one of their most unique. Due to its expansive vineyard sites, the property stretches over 420-hectares and is virtually divided into two – occupying both Montepulciano in Tuscany and Cortona in Umbria. Purchased in the 1990s, the family has built on its varying soils and micro-climates, cultivating the native Vino Nobile di Montepulciano – a clone of Sangiovese called Prugnolo Gentile – as well as some more international varieties, such as Syrah and Merlot. La Braccesca’s push and pull between the different terroirs are shown by two distinctive spirits – representing Tuscany and Umbria. The viticultural and vinification processes at the estate represent another balance, the one between the old and the new. The result is expressed by five very impressive reds, each characteristic of their origins.
