Abreu Vineyards was first created in 1987 by David Abreu, a third generation native of Napa Valley and a renowned viticulturist. He began his career by working summers at Inglenook and Caymus, and as time passed, he started focusing on viticulture. In 1980, he created a viticultural firm before starting his own domaine. Working with many of the great Napa Valley producers, like Araujo, Grace Family, Harlan Estate, Bryant Family, Blankiet and Colgin, Abreu greatly grew his experience. His initial release was called Abreu, a Bordeaux blend from the famous Madrona Ranch vineyard (which he established). He followed it up with three additional releases - Abreu Cabernet Sauvignon, Thorevilos and Cappella - all star-studded wines (from separate vineyards) that have received high acclaim from critics particularly Robert Parker. He only produces 240-320 cases per year of each label from a total of 70 acres of vines.
