Château Mouton Rothschild, the only Premier Cru promoted after the 1855 Classification, owes its status to Baron Philippe de Rothschild, officially recognised in 1973. Its wines, known for their opulence, intense blackcurrant notes and firm tannins, remain among the most distinctive of the Cru Classé.
