This is a racy and beautiful red with spices, dark fruits and a smoky, light vanilla undertone. It's full-bodied but super polished. Very fine tannins. Flavors go on for minutes. A beauty now but much better in 2015 when the tannins soften. A blend of merlot and aglianico.

The 2011 Montevetrano is an IGP blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 30% Aglianico. It is the quintessential "super Campania" wine and has enjoyed world wide fame thanks to this fact. The 2011 vintage opens to a dark, brooding appearance and thick aromatic layers that peel back one item at a time. You'll recognize tones of cured meat, sandalwood, Spanish cedar, cinnamon, ripe fruit and blackberry preserves. The 2011 vintage heat is evident here. The tannins are soft and sweet. This is an impressive wine, but it needs more time to find full integration.
Silvia Imparato and her family run this five-hectare vineyard in the Contrada Montevetrano, located in the province of Salerno. She works with consulting enologist Riccardo Cotarella and the estate was founded in 1991. The Campania Aglianico Core is a new wine that sees fruit sourced from vineyards in Guardia Sanframondi (In Benevento) as well as San Cipriano Picentino (in Salerno).
