The black cherry, menthol, anise and spice flavors are married to a base of dense tannins in this version, with sweetness on the finish. Needs a few years to come together. Best from 2016 through 2028. 500 cases made.

A wine with delicious berry, chocolate and cocoa character and hints of orange peel. Medium to full body, fine tannins and a pretty finish. This is so wonderful to drink now. Why wait?

Following the recent purchase of land in the Mosconi cru (in Monforte d’Alba), Chiara has now released the 2009 Barolo Mosconi. This is her first vintage. You can feel some of the heat of the vintage on the bouquet, with distant whiffs of ripe strawberry and raspberry. There is also a flinty mineral component that balances out the super ripe fruit. I look forward to seeing what this vineyard is capable of in the future, but the 2009 edition is clearly made for near-term drinking. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017.
