One of the greatest wines of the vintage is, not surprisingly, from proprietor Denis Durantou. A remarkable effort in every sense, the 2006 l’Eglise Clinet is not far off the quality of the prodigious 2005. Its inky/ruby/purple color is accompanied by a powerful nose of mocha, caramelized red and black fruits, smoke, graphite, and truffle. Massive and rich with full-bodied power, excellent focus and definition, and moderately high tannin, this is an “outlier” for the vintage (as Malcolm Gladwell would say) with unbelievable length and richness. Unfortunately, patience will be essential as it needs a minimum of 5-6 years of cellaring. It will age effortlessly for three decades.

Ein gewaltiges Fruchtpaket in der Nase, viel rotes Cassis, Waldhimbeeren, noble Hölzer, Kaffee und reife Pflaumentöne, Lakritze, das Nasenbild wirkt sehr direkt und erinnert vom Grundton her an alte, grosse Eglise-Clinets. Fester, dichter Gaumen, umfassende Adstringenz, eine tolle Reife in den extrem konzentrierten Beerentönen zeigend, Kardamom, Kamille und Zitronemelisse zeigen die unglaubliche Frische im Innern an, der nachhaltige Eindruck zeigt einen massiven Pomerol an, der mindestens 10 Jahre braucht um einen Teil dessen zu zeigen, was in ihm steckt. Das Gesamtpotential reicht für 50 Jahre, was wiederum den allerersten Eindruck bestätigt, im Sinne der Erinnerung an alte grosse Jahrgänge dieses aktuell in Hochform befindlichen Musterweingutes. Von den 4 Hektaren ist ein Hektar der Reben aufweist die über 70 Jahre alt sind, das erklärt die pfeffrigen Traubenkernnoten die später für die Altersversicherung notwendig sind. warten (2017 - 2055)
