The domaine's emblematic wine, the 2017 Meursault Clos de Corvées de Citeau Monopole derives from a one-hectare enclosed vineyard in the heart of the village with a warm mesoclimate and clay-rich soils. Offering up aromas of buttered apples, hazelnut, tangerine oil and pear, it's medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with an ample attack and pleasing balancing succulence despite its rich, gourmand personality. It's a lovely wine for which I've had a weakness since encountering several older vintages a few years ago.<br/>Romaric Chavy, who succeeded his father Hubert at the helm of this 13-hecare domaine in early 2006, is a young but experienced vigneron producing pure, tensile wines that are typically distinguished by their racy acids and aromatic precision. Tangy but not reductive, the wines start out life quite tight-knit and blossom in bottle. Winemaking is simple, with élevage lasting for some 12 months on the lees in barrels mainly from Tonnellerie Gillet, some 20% of which are new for the higher appellations. The portfolio culminates with several superior Puligny and Meursault lieux-dits and four premiers crus in the same communes, reflecting this long-established family's roots in both villages.
