Cortese

Cortese is a white grape variety most commonly found in the Piedmont region of Italy. With historical roots dating back to the 17th century, this variety has long been considered as the region’s finest white. Perhaps more famous than the variety itself, is the restricted wine-growing area of Gavi. Gavi is famous for their crisp, citrusy wines made of Cortese. This variety brings a high-acidity and a certain freshness that is complimented with flavors of honeydew, apple and peach in the glass. Apart from Gavi, there are a few other parts in Piedmont that produce Cortese wines, like Cortese dell'Alto Monferrato and Colli Tortonesi, and outside of Italy, this variety can be found in Australia’s Victoria region. ...
