Domaine De Trévallon

A cult-wine producer situated amongst the rolling hills of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, Domaine de Trévallon is located in the small village of Saint-Etienne-du-Grès. Originally created by Eloi Dürrbach back in 1973, when he planted his first vineyard on the north-facing side of the Alpilles to Syrah and Cabernet varieties. Today, the omnipresent limestone terroir has grown into over 17-hectares of vines that surround the old farmhouse, planted to Marsanne, Roussanne and Chardonnay. This benchmark Provençal estate is now titled with IGP status, producing classic reds that are very impressive, and refined examples of the appellation. Barrel-aged in large older wood, the reds here benefit from about five years’ cellaring. The white is a blend of Marsanne, Roussanne, Clairette, Grenache Blanc and Chardonnay, it is a barrique-fermented and intense wine with subtle floral and nutty-fruit essences ...

Nestled at France’s most south-eastern corner lies the area of Provence. It continues all its coast as well as inland until Marseille. Picturesque, warm and fragrant, this is the region that sings in the summer with its symphony of cicadas. While it includes a number of small top wine appellations – Bandol, Cassis, Palette and Bellet, its largest with approximately 20,000 hectares is the Côtes de Provence. While this sub-region produces white and red wines from varieties such as Rolle (Vermentino), Clairette, Tibouren, Cinsault, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre, its main wine is rosé which comprises 4/5 of its production. Due to this dominance on the wine stage, its rosé has become the world’s most known. Some of Provence’s finest rosé producers include Domaines Ott, who own three impressive estates – two in the Côtes de Provence and one in Bandol, and Domaine Miraval, an estate which was purchased by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 2011 and is managed by the esteemed Perrin family of Château de Beaucastel in Châteauneuf du Pape. For excellent wines outside of the appellation system, one does not have to look any further than Domaine de Trevallon, renowned for their Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah red and their Marsanne/Chardonnay white from the Baux de Provence. ...
