Teroldego

Teroldego is an autochthonous, black-skinned grape variety of Trentino, a region found in northern Italy. With a history of hundreds of years, this is the main red grape cultivated in northern Italy which produces deep, concentrated reds with fruit-forward flavors, smoky elements and ageability. Often compared to Bordeaux wines, Teroldego can surprisingly be drunk within a few years of bottling, although it can be aged for more than 10 years in the cellar. Teroldego Rotaliano is the sole DOC for varietal Teroldego wines, this area is found on the sandy, gravelly plains of Campo Rotaliano. According to recent DNA studies, Teroldego is the parent of Lagrain, and a sibling of Dureza (the parent of Syrah), but Teroldego may also be related to Pinot Noir. ...
