As the country’s most significant viticultural regions, Marlborough can be found on the northeastern edge of New Zealand’s South Island. The first vines for commercial use were planted here the early 1970s and went through an impressive expansion during the following years. Today, the region is best known for their production of Sauvignon Blanc, which erupted on the wine scene in the 1980s and 1990s. Marlborough Sauvignon Blancs are characterized by their intense, unique and potent flavors.
