Margaux

Margaux is one of the main appellations in Bordeaux’s Médoc which follows St. Estèphe, Pauillac and St. Julien down the Gironde estuary, but remains north of the city of Bordeaux. It is renowned for producing wines that are deep in colour with flesh in its core and lots of silk in its texture. Many Bordeaux connoisseurs prefer Margaux’s charm, which still delivers longevity. This is mostly due to its slightly different soil which produces this softness and allows for a higher proportion of Merlot. It is home to the eponymously named Château Margaux, its exceptional neighbour Palmer as well as other top estates such as Rauzan-Ségla, d’Issan, Brane Cantenac, Giscours and Malescot St. Exupéry.
