Clos Triguedina – A family history to be discovered
The Baldès family sets its roots in Cahors in 1830, when Étienne Baldès planted the first plots of vines. When phylloxera hit most of the wine regions, their vines managed to survive the crisis, thanks to the micro-climate offered by this area, north of Toulouse.
Jean Baldès, as enthusiastic and innovative as his father, had the estate surface double in size and he started producing fine wines. For 30 years he has been making wine in this property, which he is passionately attached to, thus becoming nicknamed as "the master of Malbec". Juliette Baldès, Jean-Luc's daughter, decided at the age of 5 to become a winemaker and to continue the tradition of the Baldès family in Clos Triguedina, together with her younger brother Jean.
We would love to give you the unique opportunity to try some of the best Malbec in Europe, so we have selected for you their three top wines: PROBUS (100% Malbec), THE NEW BLACK WINE (100% Malbec) and CLOS TRIGUEDINA (85% Malbec, 10% Merlot, 5% Tannât.). Wine critics praise this producer as one of the most interesting in this region. These wines cannot be missed.
PROBUS: Intense aromas of black fruits, plums and spicy notes. Good concentration on the palate and firm, velvety tannins. Long and persistent finish. Gradually evolves towards aromas of underbrush, while maintaining lots of freshness.
Can be decanted and enjoyed both now and in a few years, especially paired with southwestern culinary specialties such as duck confit or duck breast, beef ribs and cheeses. Perfect to drink young, but with great aging potential.
THE NEW BLACK WINE: Complex nose with notes of dried and candied fruit. On the palate, The New Black Wine shows great finesse and expresses a surprising variety of aromas of black fruits, spice and toast. The tannins are velvety and soft.
To decant. It goes well with red meat, game or spicy dishes such as duck in orange. It also holds up well to some unusual pairings such as exotic sweet and savory dishes, or even chocolate desserts. Perfect to drink young, but with great aging potential.
CLOS TRIGUEDINA: Intense nose of black fruits, with peppery and licorice notes. Complex structure. Good balance between the expression of tannins, aromatic richness and softness. Young vintages can be well paired to foie gras, red meat in sauce and game. On the other hand, older vintages pair perfectly with truffles, grilled red and white meats, game and cheeses. Perfect to drink young, but with great aging potential.
The wines will be available for delivery from our cellar in Melano in the summer of 2021.
