Reviews & Ratings

This is a modern-style, glossy wine made from 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. Deep ruby/purple, it offers up attractive black currant fruit intermixed with hints of licorice and vanilla. Round, generously endowed and ripe, this is sleeper of the vintage is impressive. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

A member of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois du Medoc.

Unglaublich dunkle Farbe, Violett-Schwarz.
A dense, slightly chewy and extracted style, offering plum skin, anise and dark blueberry paste notes followed by a toasty, raisin-accented finish. A bit overdone in the end. Drink now. 1,167 cases made. –JM

Clos La Boheme

Clos La Boheme

Member of the Alliance des Crus Bourgeois de Médoc, Clos La Bohème is an award winning Bordeaux wine produced by the Château Beau Rivage. Owner and vigneron, Christine Nadalié started making Clos La Bohème in 2003, when she expanded her property adding to her now 8-hectare vineyard. Coming from a long line of coopers, Nadalié has introduced biodynamic farming techniques, as well as the use of traditional oak vats and top-quality barrels in the fermentation and aging of her wines. Clos La Bohème delivers a lot for its price. It is a medium-bodied, but refined Cru Bourgeois, that has an intense fruit presence. This year, Clos La Bohème has been especially honored. It has won a gold medal at the organic wine competition called Challenge Millésime Bio 2016. It has also been awarded a star in the most prestigious wine guides, Bettane & Desseauve and Guide Hachette des Vins de France 2016, and Guide Hachette des Vins de France 2016. Christine Nadalié has out done herself, this signature claret is one of Haut-Médoc’s best single-vineyard wines of its kind. ...

Grapes

One of the world’s most revered grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon competes with Merlot as the two most planted red varieties. Known for its noble persona, its deep colour, full-bodied structure and telltale notes of pencil lead and blackcurrant, it can be found as the main grape in Bordeaux’s main Médoc blends, but is also highly regarded in Italian Super Tuscan blends and as a 100% varietal wine in the New World’s finest areas, such as California’s Napa Valley and Australia’s McLaren Vale. ...
Merlot is considered by many as the most luxurious red grape as it is known for its rich palate, velvety tannins and ample mouthfeel. Its home is originally France’s Bordeaux region and is responsible for Pomerol’s distinguished personality and firm grip (due to its unique clay soil), it also reigns supreme in St. Emilion where it provides its fleshy opulence. This seductress also has a claim to fame in some of Italy’s top bottlings, such as Masseto, Galatrona and Le Macchiole. ...

Haut-Médoc

Haut-Médoc

Despite its name, Haut-Médoc or “High” Médoc, the Haut Médoc is located south of the Médoc AOC area. It is further upriver and as a result is considered “higher” up. Unlike Médoc, which has a very distinct and separate vineyard area, its vineyards lie along the length of the Left Bank and slink around those of the Médoc crus, so one is able to find Châteaux with an Haut-Médoc designate outside of St. Estèphe, Pauillac, St. Julien and Margaux. Due to its extensive location, its soils and micro-climates are notably heterogenous; however, the vines are slightly less better placed than the crus and so will produce wines with less power, finesse and/or complexity. Nonetheless, there are a number of top quality properties as well as Crus Bourgeois, and many give excellent value. Some of its most known include Châteaux Cantemerle, La Lagune, Citran and Bernardotte (owned by Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande). ...
