Reviews & Ratings

Average Critic Score
90.7
A rich and classically complex style with boldly-stated, toasty, reserve wine drive. Grilled nuts, potpourri and dried red berries on the nose. The palate has lemon citrus punch amid a powerful pinot-esque frame. Drink now.
James Suckling
Hints of toasted brioche and lemon curd are layered with glazed apricot and spice notes in this firm, well-knit Champagne. Lively, offering a clean-cut, minerally finish. Drink now through 2019
Wine Spectator
Chardonnay dominates this blend, expressing freshness and elegance together with the round fruity characteristics of the Pinot Noir. Aged longer than your typical Non-Vintage Champagne, this wine has been aging for 4 to 5 years. This long aging process together with the incredible 40% of vin de reserve, makes for an intense complexity on the palate. Blend of 60% Chardonnay from the best terroir in the Côte des Blancs and 40% Pinot Noir. A rather low residual sugar content for a Brut at around 6 gr/l.

Barons de Rothschild

Barons de Rothschild

Domaines Barons de Rothschild is a larger wine company which owns multiple châteaux in Bordeaux, including Château Lafite, Rieussec and L'Evangile. It also owns wineries abroad such as Bodegas Caro in Mendoza, Argentina. It all began with Château Lafite when Baron James Rothschild purchased Château Lafite, which had already been classified as a 1er Grand Cru Classé in 1855. In the more recent years, they added more estates as well as generic Bordeaux AOC wines and a range of cognac. For their cognacs, they hand select top barrels from the region from local producers and have them bottled under the Domaine Rothschild label.
Champagne

Champagne

There is no drink quite as festive as Champagne. Sparkling wine was first produced within its three main towns – Reims, its largest and home to the Montagne de Reims, famed for its Pinot Noir; Epernay, the capital of the Côte des Blancs, the area most renowned for its Chardonnay; and Ay, the town situated on the border of both the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Less expensive Champagnes are often produced in the more southern area of Côte de Sézanne and the Côte des Bar. The industrialisation of Champagne was developed by the widow (veuve) Clicquot in the 19th century. But it was carried through by other Houses, such as Bollinger, Krug and Moët & Chandon. While large Houses still dominate Champagne’s wine scene, in recent years there have been a plethora of smaller producers, known as “grower Champagnes” that have popped up. Instead of selling their grapes to negociants, they produce their own sparkling wines – a system that reflects other regions such as Burgundy. Some of the best grower Champagnes include Anselme Selosse and Cédric Bouchard. ...
