THIS MONTH'S FEATURE

One of the richest wine libraries in Champagne

Idyllically situated in the Capital of Champagne, along the famed Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, de Venoge is a real treasure trove. With millions of bottles of Champagne stored beneath the House in chalk cellars, de Venoge is home to one of the richest wine libraries in the region. Conveying the image of nobility, distinction and refinement, de Venoge has quite an interesting history. The House was founded in 1837 by Swiss native, Henri-Marc de Venoge. The de Venoge family can actually trace its roots back to 15th century Switzerland, to where the Venoge river flows into Lake Geneva. Since 1998, the House has joined the Champagne group, Boizel Chanoine Champagne. Today, the House’s wines are distributed in over 40 countries and each bottle is made with the highest of quality standards including low dosages, the use of only first-press juices and long aging periods. Champagne de Venoge offers a rich and complete range of high-quality Champagnes with an excellent value for money.

Thanks to our close relationship with the Champagne de Venoge House, we are pleased to offer several aged vintages coming directly from their famed cellars in Champagne.

CHAMPAGNE BRUT CORDON BLEU

In 1851, Le Cordon Bleu was adopted as the House’s symbol, referring to the Venoge River and the l’ordre du Saint-Esprit (Holy Spirit Order), the most famous order of Chivalry in the French monarchy. This Champagne is light in color with golden tints, on the nose it displays a beautiful aromatic complexity combining notes of green apple, lemon and honey. The blend consists of 50% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 25% Pinot Meunier – making for a well-balanced, complex palate. Bottled aged on the lees for around 3 years, Le Cordon Bleu is a Champagne of exceptional versatility and ageability. It is the perfect example of a harmonious, round yet multifaceted Brut Champagne.

CHAMPAGNE BRUT CORDON BLEU ROSÉ

This is the ideal Champagne to start a meal or end it, pairing well with fruit-based desserts. Le Cordon Bleu Rosé is fresh and vibrant, revealing intense red fruit notes on the nose. A blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 20% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Meunier, this wine is aged for 3 years in bottle with a dosage of 7.8 grams residual sugar per liter. The freshness, vivacity and roundness of this Rosé is astonishing.

CHAMPAGNE LOUIS XV MILLÉSIMÉ

Made only in the greatest vintages, Louis XV Millésimé is exclusively blended of Grands Crus. This prestigious cuvée was first launched in 2005 and was created as a tribute to Louis XV who authorized the marketing and transportation of Champagne in bottles in 1728. The subtle, voluptuous nose of Louis XV develops on the palate revealing a pure freshness of an evolved Champagne. A blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay, this cuvée has a rather low dosage of 6 grams residual sugar per liter. It is a wonderful display of elegance that will surely seduce every true Champagne-lover.

As a result of a meticulous selection, composed of solely Premier and Grand Crus, this cuvée is distinguished by its elegance and beautiful acidic texture. The magnificent bottle design reminds us of the carafes used by the Grande Aristocratie Européenne of the 20th century who first decanted Champagne in crystal bottles. The Princes Blanc de Blancs is a pure Chardonnay, with 6 grams per liter residual sugar. The subtle bouquet of white flowers and citrus fruits accentuate the freshness and grace found in each bottle.
