New release directly from Chateau Latour cellar

Dear Wine Lover

I am very pleased to inform you that today Chateau Latour has decided to release the 2005 Ch Latour and 2011 Forts de Latour. The chateau made big news in 2012 when they announced they would no longer participate in En Primeur. Since 2012, each vintage is now kept back in Latour’s cellar and released only when the wine-making team thinks the wine is ready to drink.

2005 was one of Bordeaux best vintages and this is a great opportunity to secure one of Bordeaux best wines from a mytical vintage. Ex Chateau stock usually is sold at a premium, as you have 100% guarantee of the proveniance, the condition and that it was stored in absolute ideal condition. The great news about this release is that this time , the stock is actually cheaper than non-ex chateau stock and cheaper also than younger vintages like 2009 and 2010.

Bordeaux 2005 vintage has been considered by Robert Parker as the 2nd best ever vintage in Bordeaux, just behind the Legendary 2009, and Château Latour has produced another profound wine! Comments from various wine critics are more than laudatory – Robert Parker : ”probably one of the two or three most intense, rich, and complex wines of the entire Médoc”, James Suckling: ”tremendous energy and a constantly changing profile”, Wine Spectator: “This is a Latour with fabulous tone and vigo” and René Gabriel “the perfection of Bordeaux, Pauillac, Latour”…

Rene Gabriel "20" Points: 15: Sattes, sehr dunkles Weinrot.

James Suckling "100" Points: A very complex nose of lavender, currants, spices, and hot stones. Full and dense on the palate, with a very tight structure. The tannins have a perfect polish to their density, and the finish is very intense, with wonderful fruit and truffle character. This turns almost decadent, with tremendous energy and a constantly changing profile. This is a very challenging wine to get to know, please leave this for at least ten years. Pull the cork in 2015.

Wine Spectator "99" Points: Dark ruby black in color. Brilliant, intense aromas of mineral, blackberry and currant, with hints of Indian spices and cigar box, lead to a full-bodied palate, with ultrafine tannins and a beautiful balance of blackberry, raspberry and mineral. There's subtlety, yet also great depth. Lasts for minutes on the palate. This is a Latour with fabulous tone and vigor. Best after 2018. 12,500 cases made.

Robert Parker "98" Points: The 2005 Latour (87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Merlot and Petit Verdot) is a spectacular effort from Château Latour. It has an inky plum/purple color and a gorgeous nose of graphite, crème de cassis, and floral notes with some forest floor in the background. It is full-bodied, super-concentrated, and for my taste, probably one of the two or three most intense, rich, and complex wines of the entire Médoc. The wine has great texture, purity and a finish of close to 40 or 45 seconds. The tannins are surprisingly sweet, even in this large-scaled, masculine wine. Drink it over the next 50+ years.

The chateau has also released the 2011 Forts de Latour which we can offer at following conditions:
